We brought our 2022 Walt Disney World Marathon ear hat to Curtain Call Collectibles at the Magic Kingdom for custom embroidery!
I admit: I used to be someone who thought that embroidered ear hats were just for babies on their first trip to Disney World. But recently I ran a RunDisney race with 34 other ladies dressed as Mouseketeers and discovered that these hats can be really cute, actually!
So when I was handed a 2022 Marathon Finisher ear hat at the finish line of RunDisney’s 26.2 mile race, I knew just how I wanted to commemorate the weekend (and finishing my first Dopey challenge): by getting my ears embroidered!
I did do one little mini photo shoot with the ears before heading to Curtain Call Collectibles at the Magic Kingdom to put my individual spin on these ears.
Most people who visit this gift shop think that you have to buy your ears right there in the store in order to have them embroidered. But you don’t! As long as it’s a Disney-produced ear hat or baseball cap the Cast Members are happy to embroider a pair you bring in yourself. They did warn me that if anything went wrong during the process they wouldn’t be able to replace my hat (since it was a special event item they don’t have in stores) so keep that in mind.

EMBROIDERED EAR HAT REVIEW
What We Loved
Convenience:
Good
Curtain Call Collectibles, the new home of ear embroidery at WDW, is the first shop you hit on the right after passing under the Main Street Train Station in the Magic Kingdom. It’s a bit difficult to find, but I like that it can be the first stop of your magical Disney day.
Choice and Options
Great!
There is a pretty wide variety of fonts and colors that you can choose for your embroidery! While there are fewer options in the “basic” price range, there are many combinations that you can unlock for a few dollars more.
And keep in mind that you can get any official Disney baseball cap embroidered here too: don’t feel limited to just a basic black ear hat!
Turnaround Time:
Great!
These ears took approximately ten minutes to embroider once I gave them my text and paid. Of course, I started this process in the evening so if you’re planning on embroidering ears first thing in the morning it might take longer, depending on crowd level.
I especially loved that you can go and explore the Magic Kingdom while you wait – no need to stand around and supervise!
Pricing: $
Good
Reasonably priced for the quality and convenience of this service, but do take into account that you have to pay for the ear hat separately. I wanted “Dopey Finisher 2022
written on my marathon hat so paid $16 for two lines of premium embroidery.
Note: they won’t embroider character names (like “Mickey” or just “Dopey”) or social media handles on the hats. I had to get a supervisor’s permission to have Dopey on my hat because it was the name of a RunDisney event.
Stitching/Gluing:
Great!
The stitching in this embroidery is perfectly professional!
Who would love these?
FashionEarstas who want to commemorate a special event, whether it’s a child’s first visit, an engagement or birthday! You can embroider dates, milestones, or even times onto your own ear hat!

What Needs Work
Accessibility:
Needs Improvement
Don’t believe what you may see on the internet: in Disney World you can only get this done at the Magic Kingdom and not at any of the other parks. I believed an old website when they said that this was available at Hollywood Studios (it’s not) so had to hop over to MK just for this.
Availability:
Needs Improvement
This is the second ear hat I’ve tried to get embroidered over the past three months, and it’s been a challenge because Disney is often out of stock. In November all they had available to purchase in the parks was the weirdly-shaped Vintage Ear Hats that no one wanted or infant-sized hats. As you can see from this picture, most people had obtained their official Disney ear hats elsewhere and brought them in just for the embroidery.
Pro tip: plan ahead and definitely don’t rely on the store to have ear hats in stock.
Where should future FashionEarstas be seen in these ears?
Wear a custom embroidered ear hat to a Capture Your Moment photo session so that you’ll have a cute accessory that emphasizes your milestone or celebration!
Overall Score:
(4.4/5)
I love the versatility, convenience, and price of this fun Disney service and will definitely be using it again! I wish that it was available at the other three WDW parks, but I understand the limitations are probably due to COVID. Here’s hoping that they’ll return soon!
I hope that you found this review helpful! I’d love to hear what you think of all of our ears! Is there a character we should find a pair of ears for next? Make sure you check us out on Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram; chances are you will see our ears in action!
