Disney Ear Review: Scarlet Witch Embroidered Ears

This Scarlet Witch headband has a unique shape, style, and shine!

We couldn’t celebrate a month of Marvel here at FashionEarsta without paying tribute to one of our favorite new shows, WandaVision! Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch took us on a trip through time, with fashions inspired by the great sitcoms of the 20th and 21st centuries!

I quickly fell in love with this pair from Colorful Characters on Etsy! I had never bought a pair of machine-embroidered Disney ears before, so this was a new experience for me.

Update: I think we snagged the last pair of this shop’s Scarlet Witch-inspired ears, but you can check back soon to see if they restock or take a look at their other Avengers-themed ears!

Want to see our homage to WandaVision with DisneyBounds inspired by the 50s, 80s, and 90s? Check out our YouTube video here (and you might even see these ears in action)!

EAR REVIEW

What We Loved

Unique Theme/Style:

Great!

It’s hard to find Scarlet Witch or WandaVision-inspired ears that aren’t…well…tacky. The embroidered design on these ears is a subtle nod to Wanda’s headpiece that’s not too in-your-face!

I also love the color combination on these ears. One of my favorite fashion indulgences is pairing almost-too-similar colors (like red and magenta) in the same outfit, and I love that this shop wasn’t afraid to do the same!

Ear Shape/Size:

Good

The ears themselves are nice and round.

One thing that might not be everyone’s cup of tea: these are quite thin (see the profile view below). I’m of the opinion that the oversized bow balances the headpiece, but you may have different preferences.

Materials:

Great!

The face of these ears is a sleek, metallic red plastic flecked with iridescent specks. It’s quite lovely!

Bow:

Great!

The bow is slightly oversized and sparkly. Something about the smaller sequins on this bow makes them more shiny than normal, and I love it!

Turnaround Time:

Great!

These ears arrived in 17 days.

Confession: we did pay for the shop to rush our order (sometimes everyone procrastinates!) but it was relatively inexpensive and the maker was very clear about timelines for all orders.

Shipping/Packaging

Great!

Here at FashionEarsta we love when your ear experience starts before you even unwrap your package, and this was one of the most fun magic mailers we’ve ever received! It had coupons, care instructions, and fun magical touches at every turn!

The ears themselves were bubble wrapped and surrounded by cardboard and arrived in perfect shape.

Pricing: $$

These ears were under $30 (not including shipping) even with the additional charge to rush my order.

Who would love these?

Fans of WandaVision who want to pay homage to the Scarlet Witch without cosplaying her. These are sparkly but still subtle tributes to this Marvel character. These ears are probably best suited for FashionEarstas who want to take fashion risks, as their shape and color combination aren’t cookie-cutter Disney!

What Needs Work

Headband:

Ok

This headband is fabric-lined in a strange, spiky fabric (I honestly don’t know what to call it but it reminds me a bit of astroturf). I think it’s supposed to help grip your hair, but it wasn’t particularly effective on my hair.

The headband itself is also a bit short (doesn’t come down much below the bottom of my ears) which makes the ears top-heavy.

Wearability:

Ok

These ears are a bit slippery due to the fabric-lined headband. The tag that comes with them does warn that FashionEarstas with fine hair may have to use a product like hairspray to help them grip. I appreciated the tip, but the average amount of product in my hair really didn’t help much.

With a few bobby pins this should stay put, though.

Stitching/Gluing:

Ok

The stitching on the front of the ears is exquisite, but it’s a bit messy on the backside. The fact that there is no design on the reverse side draws attention to that.

Where should future FashionEarstas be seen in these ears?

Avengers Campus at Disneyland is an obvious answer, but I’d also wear these comfortable ears to binge Marvel shows on Disney+! Next time you have friends over for an MCU marathon, pop these ears on and turn your quiet night in into a party! Or use the “Group Watch” feature on Disney+ to ugly-cry over WandaVision with your friends, no matter where you all are!

Overall Score: (4.6/5)

These gorgeous Scarlet Witch ears are worthy of Wanda herself! I love their unique style and design and are gaga for the glowing red fabric.

I hope that you found this review helpful! I’d love to hear what you think of all of our Marvel ears! Is there a character we should find a pair of ears for next? Make sure you check us out on Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram; chances are you will see our ears in action!
