Hello, fellow FashionEarstas! EarGoddess here, with another tale of my amazing adventures in fashion. It’s Sinister September here at FashionEarsta, so I couldn’t help but think this was the perfect time to tell you the tale of how I came by my lovely Queen of Hearts fascinator.
I ask you: when is a flamingo not a flamingo?
Let me tell you…
I woke up to the sound of horns honking outside my window, and I popped open the curtains to see who it could be. My alarm hadn’t gone off yet, but it was morning rush hour. I knew because the ten people that regularly drive past our house on their way to work were enthusiastically responding to madness that is was my stunning front lawn that quirky Tuesday morning.
I have never seen so many lawn ornaments in my life, let alone pink flamingos.
Now, I am a great lover of all things vintage, but not necessarily all things kitschy. For example, the great love of lawn ornaments and plastic flamingos has never been a… favorite…, but I guess someone missed that detail when they deposited approximately ONE HUNDRED pink plastic flamingos on my lawn for no apparent reason.

(I do recall having a brief conversation about plastic forking people’s yards instead of toilet papering them when I was in my early high school years. Come on — forking aerates the lawn instead of making the trees and bushes a soggy mess! But at no point do I remember saying that I did or didn’t like flamingos. So, I guess in a way, it’s my fault for not being more clear about my distinct lawn ornament preferences?)
Now, seeing as I didn’t know who had birded my yard or why, I decided to get myself ready for the day. My hubby had planned to take me out to lunch that day, so I threw together my favorite little black dress and my favorite red heels and headed out to run some errands before our date. I was running a little bit late (in true White Rabbit fashion), but I got to the restaurant just in time to see none other than the Florida FashionEarsta dressed as Alice and EarstaDiva dressed as the White Rabbit!
The Fancy Floridian EarstaDiva
Little did I know, but my two partners in crime had set up the entire charade! I should have known…
“SURPRISE! Merry Unbirthday!!!” they shouted.
My husband, who believes wholeheartedly in the spirit of character dining and was apparently in on the surprise as well, arrived promptly with the Mad Hatter in tow. (Side note: the Hatter is DEFINITELY mad. I mean we’re all mad here, but he is particularly madder than the rest of us!)

I was so very surprised, but then I realized that it was not only MY Unbirthday but literally everyone else’s, too! We all rolled into a fabulous rendition of “A Very Merry Unbirthday to You”, and exchanged little gifts before having a lovely tea (there was a lot of jam, if you were wondering).
Now, as you probably recall, I LOVE all things vintage (as previously mentioned, not flamingos), so you cannot believe how perfect this little gift was that the other FashionEarsta’s got me. LOOK AT THIS FASCINATOR, FRIENDS!!! I mean, it is everything… villainous, stylish, has a vintage vibe, and still manages to have ears on top!

I am so excited to wear this when I go to Disneyland Paris and try the maze for the first time!
Needless to say, it was indeed, a VERY merry unbirthday for all of us!

What’s that?
It’s YOUR Unbirthday today, too???
Well, then!
A VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU, TOO!

What We Loved
Stitching/Gluing:
Excellent. The only glue showing was under the alligator clips, which will never show!

Fascinator:
Great. Made of a sturdy material, the actual base of this fascinator is firm and doesn’t flop around.

Ear Shape/Size:
Great. Because this is a fascinator, the ears are proportionate to the size… which means they’re itty bitty and adorable!

Bow:
Excellent. The bow is well-proportioned and secure.

Materials:
Excellent. Velvet? Faux fur? Braided trim? Yep, these materials are top notch!

Unique Theme/Style:
Excellent. No guessing which character here!

Wearability:
Great. Solid alligator clips underneath hold this solidly in place. Taking it off and on is a challenge if you have your hair pulled back, as the clips tend to grab your hair.

Shipping/Packaging:
Excellent. Super sturdy box with a cute little matching tissue and enclosed business card.

Pricing: $$
Who would love these?
All you slightly sinister, highly fashionable FashionEarstas… HEADS UP! This little fascinator is just perfect for your new Queen of Hearts DisneyBound!
What Needs Work
Turnaround Time:
This took approximately three weeks to receive, though it appeared to already be in stock and ready to ship. (It took about four days to travel through the USPS to me.)
Where should future FashionEarstas be seen in these ears?
Villains After Dark is a MUST! Dapper Day? Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party? There are so many possibilities!! If you happen to be heading to Tokyo, I feel like the Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall will be thrilled to see you recognizing their namesake!

Overall Score:
(5/5)
Perfect score! Despite a little bit slower turnaround time, I am really in love with Enchanted Candy’s fascinators. They’re well constructed, beautifully designed, and they present incredible themes that are unique but unmistakable.
