FashionEarsta Reviews a Fabulous Straw Hat, Complete with Mickey Ears!
I was lounging by the Quiet Pool at the Grand Floridian last year when a stylish young lady set her stuff down on the chair next to mine. I couldn’t help but notice her fabulous Mickey straw hat and had to ask her where she had gotten it! She laughed and told me it was from rosesandthornsears on Etsy, but also added the fact that I was definitely not the first person to ask that day.
Fast forward to last week, when I had an absolute blast wearing this hat around the pools at the Polynesian. Sure enough, people were asking me where they could buy it at least once per hour! There just aren’t a ton of stores making a high-quality, themed straw hat, so this is a hot commodity!
Be advised that this hat does ship from Europe, so keep that in mind when planning your Disney trip outfits (eg order early)! But the shop owner is excellent at communicating timelines, so we’d say this hat is definitely worth the wait!

What We Loved
Unique Theme/Style
Great!
This stylish Canotier Straw Hat is classy and elegant while still screaming “Disney!” It is perfect for days when you want to be a bit dressier than your normal park headwear can cover.
Wearability:
Great!
This hat was nice and light, so it felt like I was wearing nothin on my head all day. I also got caught in flash flooding at Epcot that night and, while the hat is not waterproof, it was not damaged at all and did a decent job of keeping the rain out of my eyes!
Materials:
Good
The hat itself is made of woven material that is sturdy enough to provide shade from the Florida sun. I would recommend being very gentle with it during transit, though: the brim is definitely not going to be able to withstand a suitcase!
Headband
N/A
This hat obviously doesn’t have a headband, but the shop owners do give you the chance to select your head circumference when ordering so that you can get a great fit!
Stitching/Gluing:
Good
The stitching exposed but neat, and though there were some small spots of glue visible behind the Mickey pearls they don’t detract from the overall look.
Bow:
Great!
I love the look of the trailing ribbons on this bow and the unique way that it is shaped! The little Mickey pearl in the center is adorable as well.
Shipping/Packaging
Great!
I was a bit worried when I saw that these would be shipping from Spain, but the box was so well-wrapped in packing tape that it took forever to get it open! The hat itself was well-padded and arrived in perfect shape.
Pricing: $$
Great!
We paid $30.12 plus shipping for this hat, which is cheaper than a pair of Loungefly-branded ears in Orlando! We definitely think that they’re worth the price.
Turnaround Time:
Great!
We ordered these in mid-January and they arrived almost exactly two weeks later. Be sure to check with the shop for timing on your order, though, since they do state that they have a waiting list.
Who would love these?
FashionEarstas who also dream of vacationing in the French Riviera. They match best with a swimsuit and a cocktail, but you can also dress them up to wander the World Showcase in a cute day dress or jumpsuit.

What Needs Work
Ear Shape/Size:
Ok
These ears are just a bit puckered from where the seams are sewn, but it’s not terribly obvious at a glance!
Where should future FashionEarstas be seen in these ears?
We’d love to take these for a spin on a Disney Cruise! They’re perfect for transitioning from pool deck to evening casual dress. But they are so versatile that there aren’t many places on Disney property that you can’t wear them!

I love the timeless elegance of the straw hat/black bow combo featured in this ear hat! They are a compliment magnet and are surprisingly helpful in keeping the Florida sun off of your face. I would definitely recommend them if you’re planning in advance for your next round of Disney vacation outfits!
