Inspirational Winnie-The-Pooh

We find some of life’s most beautiful lessons within the 100 Acre Wood.

An odd phenomenon occurred a few decades ago when an author Benjamin Hoff, decided to use Winnie-the-Pooh and his 100 Acre Woods Friends as a vehicle to introduce westerners to the Eastern belief system of Taoism in The Tao of Pooh (1982). As unlikely as this would seem to most people, the witty banter that the author created with Winnie the Pooh was what caused the book to become incredibly successful, staying on the New York Times’ Bestseller List for 49 weeks! This was because readers trusted Winnie the Pooh because of his pure heart.

Winnie-the-Pooh has always been the purest of characters. He’s not without faults, mind you; he finds himself in some interesting predicaments thanks to his honey obsession. But Pooh always seems to see the good, the positive, and the inspiration even in the midst of chaos. So this week, FashionEarsta’s, let’s take another look at our friend Pooh and what inspiration he can offer all of us in 2020.

Winnie-the-Pooh On Fashion

Now, I completely understand that it would be difficult to take advice from a bear that does not wear pants, however, we can learn a lot from his pantless fashion choice. What am I talking about? Expression.

Pooh chooses to freely (quite literally) express himself by not wearing pants. In all fairness, he is a bear so this is fully acceptable, however, he is not inhibited at all. What fashion choices do we make simply because we know they are safe? Is it color, style, what we have been told that we SHOULD wear by family and peers? There are so many societal fashion pressures they are almost suffocating!

I ask you to take a risk, find a fashion that you love and go with it! Find that signature piece and blow it out of the water. Not only will you look great, but you will feel great too!

Winnie-The-Pooh on Friendship

We can learn a lot from Winnie-the-Pooh and his friendships with his friends. There are a variety of personalities in the 100 Acre Wood, much like there are in all our lives. One of the many beautiful things about Pooh is his ability to find the good in people and show another explanation for their actions.

Here are some my favorite Winnie-the-Pooh Quotes on Friendship.

I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams we can be together all the time.

A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.

Pooh’s gentle manner in his explanations shows what a good friend he is and inspires all of us to be better friends to those that we love.

Winnie the Pooh on Bravery

We could not write about inspirational Winnie-the-Pooh and not include what is probably his most famous quote. However, Winnie the Pooh did not say this! Christopher Robin was the one that said this to Winnie-the-Pooh. Why is it that Pooh gets the credit for this?

Most likely it is because Pooh took the advice and lived it. These gentle words are the source of many people’s inspiration on a regular basis. Often times one can fall into a rut and hearing that they are “Smart” and “Brave” from a little red shirt-wearing, honey obsessed, pantless ball of inspiration, and unending support can be just what they need to pull them out of a sad place.

Winnie-The-Pooh on Love

I believe one of Winnie-the-Pooh’s most beautiful lessons to us all is, unconditional love. He lives his life showering his friends with love just because he wants the absolute best for them. He asks for nothing in return, he is always willing to help, and he is always there to make sense of a situation. This shows adults and children alike, unending love and support which are such important lessons to learn at any age.

We can find inspiration from a number of Disney characters but I would venture to say that we would be hard-pressed to find one so pure of heart and versatile within their inspiration as our friend Winnie Pooh. Thank you for taking this inspirational journey with me through Winnie Pooh’s natural gifts of love, friendship, bravery and even fashion!
