Show Your Ears Some Love: Designer Knockoff Ear Review

Skip to EarstaDiva’s Review and Scoring Below

Hello FashionEarstas!  Over the course over the last few months, I have had the honor of looking for, finding and reviewing some pretty awesome ears!  The shops on Etsy that I have found have been pretty consistent in quality and in presentation.  I can tell that the ears that I have received have been made with a good amount of love and pride.  Usually, I am able to dream up some fun tale to go along with our ears. I have taken Snow White apple picking, Pooh has helped me wrangle bees, Minnie Mouse has invited me to garden and Tinkerbell allowed me to help prepare for Spring!

This time though, I could not dream up a fanciful story because I could tell from the moment that I received these that these ears were shown very little love in their making. The shop owner eve communicated how much she hated these ears and would never make them again.  This is very disappointing and it can honestly be felt in the product that they turned out. To give you some background, in 2020 there was a line of designer ears that were released by famous Designers. Our idea for this ear review was to contact a Ear Creator and ask them to come up with a pair of ears that were a “knock off” version of the original ears that were released last year.

I was very excited to be writing this review on a knock off pair of Designer Ears this month, especially when I found out that they would be based on the work of famous designer, Betsy Johnson, who is one of my favorites. I could barely contain myself! Well, what I got was a feeble attempt at best, but I am determined to give these ears a little love and make them into the fierce ears they deserve to be!  I am not sure how, but I will figure it out! SO let’s get these ears reviewed!

These are the actual Betsy Johnson Ears!

EAR REVIEW

What We Loved

Unique Theme/Style:

Good! This concept is fabulous, I love the colors and the general theme. However, I just feel like they need more!

Wearability:

Good! They are very light and could be worn all day.

Pricing: $

Turnaround Time:

Great. Got them within 2 weeks.

Headband:

Great. The headband is my one of my favorite types of headbands. Nice and sturdy without pinching and comfortable on the head and temples.

Who would love these?
Anyone that may be looking for a somewhat close knockoff to a designer pair. You almost can’t tell!

What Needs Work

Stitching/Gluing:

Poor. There was visible glue all over the ears.

Bow:

Fair.  Great in that it does not flip or flop but poor in that it is not even.

Ear Shape/Size:

Fair. If we are going to go by the standard of these being a knockoff then these definitely fall short in this category. If the creator had moved these a little close to the center and had added a little more tulle to each side we would have had a great pair of ears!

Shipping/Packaging:

Poor. Nice Sturdy box but the ears were tossed into the box, there was no packing slip, no note just ears in a box.

Materials: Fair. This is one of the biggest tragedies of these ears, the materials are lovely, the execution is just lacking.

Where should future FashionEarstas be seen in these ears?

I think Hollywood Studios would be a great place to wear these ears!

Credit: Disney Parks

Overall Score: (3.3/5.0)

Once in a while, FashionEarstas, we run into a pair of ears that may be fabulous for some but not for everyone. SO even though I was not enthused I know there are more ears out there and I cannot wait to see them!

Have you ever had a disappointing pair of ears? We would love to hear about it and what you did to make a bad situation better!

I hope that you found this review helpful! I’d love to hear what you think of this review, What other other magical things do you have to share?
