Welcome, FashionEarstas, to Sinister September! This month we will look at some of the most intriguing sinister souls that have found their way into some of our favorite stories! I have always been curious about the story behind Scar from The Lion King. Why was he so hate-filled toward his brother Mufasa, and how did he end up with that gnarly scar anyway?
Being the FashionEarsta I am, I never engage on a hunt, whether it be on the internet or in person, without the proper attire and environment. My first order of business was to submerge myself not only in the Pride Land mentality, but I also needed to connect with the villain I was researching. I pulled out my essential oil box and put together a combination of Tea Tree, Lavendar, Orange and Eucalyptus for my diffuser. I then donned a brown dress, a black scarf and thanks to our friends at Nicole Rose Crafts I was able to find these incredible ears that feature Scar. Now that I was in the mood, and most importantly now that I looked the part, I was ready to start my hunt. After I did some digging, I found the information I was looking for, and what a story it is!
In the days before Simba, Timon and Pumba, there were 2 brothers, Mufasa and Taka. They lived with their Pride along with their parents.
Their father was the King of the animals and it was a full-time job. As many of us know, juggling parenthood along with a high-pressure job is not easy to balance, and sometimes, members of the family would have their feelings hurt. Mufasa was next in line to be king, and Taka was not happy about this one bit, mainly because since Mufasa was the heir he was able to spend more time with their father. Jealousy slowly took over Taka to the point where it changed him to be a horrible lion with only selfish intentions. This led Taka to endure a life time of misery, resentment, and plotting to do nothing but to destroy his brother Mufasa, and become King. We all know how that story ended, but what about the scar?
The scar was a result of one of the plots Taka came up with to destroy Mufasa. A disagreement at a watering hole between Mufasa and a Cape Buffalo. Mufasa was approaching the situation with caution, Cape Buffalo were not known for their easy-going demeanor — quite the opposite! When Taka appeared and escalated the situation, it resulted in Mufasa having to fight the Cape Buffalo. Mufasa, being a young lion had no intention of fighting a Cape Buffalo (that would be suicide), so under direct advisement, he ran. When he found himself safely at the top of a ravine, he saw that Taka was being attacked by the other Cape Buffalo in the herd. Mufasa ran to his brother’s defense and bravely threw himself between Taka and his attackers, saving Taka’s life but leaving him badly injured.
When Taka recovered, he confessed to his father what he had done. His father told him that he was disappointed in him and that now Taka would always bear the scar to remind him of his foolishness. Taka was enraged and insisted from that from that time forward he be known as “Scar”.
There is so much more to this story and it is fascinating! You can find the full tale here:

How do you feel about Scar now? Do you feel sorry for him or do you dislike him even more? Either way you slice it, he still remains one of the sinister villains we love to hate!

Excellent. Nice and sturdy ears, good proportions.
Who would love these?
Lion King Fans might love these, but those that are into villains would really get into these! There are some really awesome DisneyBound Scar outfits as well as some fabulous make up ideas for Scar.
What Needs Work
Headband:
Good. My only little gripe with these ears is the duct tape holding the ears onto the headband. Perhaps a inner headband covering could be used to hide this?
Where should future FashionEarstas be seen in these ears?
FashionEarsta’s heading to Animal Kingdom’s, The Lion King Show will look quite menacing as they represent one of Disney’s most sinister of villains! Perhaps having a libation at the Dawa Bar is in order to show off these beauties as well!

Overall Score:
(4.9/5)
These are my first pair of reversible ears and I have to say, I LOVE THEM! The ears themselves are nicely crafted, the design on the ear is also very straightforward and beautifully done. They are heavy but they are just heavy enough to keep the ears from falling forward. I was pleasantly surprised by these ears, the pictures really do not do them justice, I am looking forward to getting more ears from this shop!
