Living in the North East, we are often subjected to cold, grey, and dreary weather. Sure, the big first snow of the year is a highly anticipated event around here and it can be quite lovely, as long as you do not have to drive anywhere! There is no question that everyone loves a white holiday season, I mean there are songs sung about it! However, once you get through December, and mostly through January, the slush, spontaneous snow squalls, and bitter cold gets OLD FAST.

This Diva enjoys her sunny beach days, warm sand, warm sun, the keyword here is WARM, but, I also love my town and I love the change of seasons. I guess the cold of winter is just the price to pay for all the things that I do love about the part of the country that I live in. So, FashionEarstas sometimes you just have to be like Elsa, and Let it Go! See what I did there, nice Segway right!?
Channelling my inner Elsa, I decided to arm myself with as many fun winter facts as I could. I mean did you know that Syracuse, NY tried to pass a law making it illegal for it to snow? No really, they did! I am hoping that this will help me mentally prepare for the months ahead! As I write this, I am watching our first major snow storm take shape! We are supposed to get anywhere between 12-18 inches which is the largest snow fall we have had in years!

The most fascinating fact that I learned is that there is actually a reason why it becomes so quiet and peaceful when it snows. Snow actually absorbs sound, so when a fresh blanket of snow covers the ground it absorbs sound waves making it seem quieter. Now, if only I could create the same effect when I am on Zoom calls and my Seven Seas Bees are running amuck!
There is a rumor going around that there are no 2 snow flakes alike. Well, FashionEarsta’s I am going to have to debunk that myth for you. In 1988, a scientist found two identical snow crystals that came from a storm in Wisconsin. So you see, anything is possible!
The most snow to fall in a 24 hour period on record was in 1921. Over 6 feet of snow fell on Silver Lake Colorado in Mid-April. Colorado is one of my favorite places, but their weather is CRAZY! I was there at the beginning of May, and had an amazing time hiking and paddle boarding on a lake. The weather was GORGEOUS, sunny and warm. Literally, the day I left, BAM! They get 10 inches of snow! That is a little too unpredictable for me, with my luck I would be wearing flip flops to shovel the driveway!
Finally, on January 12 ,2013, in Seattle, Washington, 5,834 people got together to create the largest snowball fight in the world. I have had the honor to witness a HUGE snowball fight, it may give Seattle a run for its money actually. I grew near Penn State University and on January 2, 1987, Penn State won the National Championship over the Miami Hurricanes. It has long since been referred to as one of the most memorable playoff games on record. What people didn’t see, was the effect that the win had on our town that night. My family lived near downtown and because we were having a similar snow storm to what we are having today, we decided to walk down and see what was going on. The students were mostly still gone so we figured it would be pretty quiet. We were wrong! We heard the rhythmic chanting as we approached College Avenue, we turned the corner and stopped dead in our tracks as we witnessed snow balls flying all over the place as “We Are”…..”Penn State” chanted over and over again. There were hundreds of people, laughing, throwing snow balls and celebrating our big win. It is one of my most favorite memories growing up!
Being the sun worshipper I am, (EarGoddess often scolds me for being out in the sun too much!) I sometimes lose sight of how fortunate I am to experience all of the seasons, including winter. There is really nothing as peaceful as a blanket of snow at night, and there is nothing as cozy as a roaring fire, I dare say that there is no better excuse to drink copious amounts of hot chocolate with way too many marshmallows! Not to mention, it puts me in a great position to review some incredible Elsa ears! Let’s talk about these beauties!

What We Loved

Excellent. These are not your ordinary ears! Oh no! These are SNOWBALLS and they are perfect!

Unique Theme/Style:
Excellent. I adore Ears that have a great spin on them. These are super versatile, I interpret these as Elsa Ears but others could use these as snow princess, winter ears, the sky is the limit!

Materials: Excellent! I love the colors used here as well as the different items that make up the decorations. The materials are also secured very well.

Shipping/Packaging:
Excellent. Nice Sturdy box and the ears were secured to a board within the box. The bubble wrap and tissue paper were a wonderful way. to protect these beauties during the shipping process.

Stitching/Gluing:
Excellent. No noticeable seams or extra glue! Everything is very secure and there are not any areas where you can tell that they were glued.

Bow:
Excellent! No Bow, but such beautiful adornments.

Pricing: $$
Turnaround Time:
Excellent.

Who would love these?
Winterwonderland lovers would adore these ears, but I will say anyone who loves this color palette would adore these ears.
What Needs Work
Wearability:
Good. These are wonderful, but they are heavy so. they tend to tilt forward on your head. However, I will say, they work pretty well in a snow storm!

Headband:
Good. The headband itself is BEAUTIFUL. I love how it is lined and it is so sparkly! BUT the ears fall forward, so this goes hand it hand with wearability.

Where should future FashionEarstas be seen in these ears?
Meeting Anna and Elsa at the Norway Pavillion in EPoct would be my first thought. Of course, you should seriously wear these on Frozen EverAfter (one of our all-time favorite rides!)

Overall Score:
(4.6/5.0)
Fashion Question for you, FashionEarsta’s! Which Elsa Fashion Style do you like? The one from the first movie of the second? This is a serious debate here at FashionEarsta headquarters. Where I love her softer style in the 2nd movie, I adore the fierce Snow Queen from the first! What are your thoughts on Elsa’s ever-changing styles!?
